I hear people say how crazy the world is today. Is it really today? Think about today in the US, and how crazy the 1960s were, or maybe the 70s. We were in wars back then. Oh, and in the 90s, 2000s, and so on.
We look at what’s going on today and make it so much worse than it really is for us. The reality is that the US is in relative peace now. for the first time in decades.
Even working is so much better than it was over 20 years ago. I just need a laptop today. I can work from home. When I look at the big picture, my life is really good.
However, most of us don’t look at the big picture. We just look at all the problems we have right now and think life sucks.
It really doesn’t.
Times are crazy today and they always will be. They were crazy 10 years ago, 20 years ago, and even 50 years ago. The problem we have is that we, as humans, romanticize the past. We make history better than is actually was. Think about how and where you grew up. Those were great times, weren’t they?
Actually, I’ll bet they were not that great, but you remember the good times and tend to forget the crappy times. The only bad things you remember are the really bad things. Those memories burned a hole in you that hurt. We remember real pain!
But, when you compare those times to now, you know you’re better off today, (at least in the US).
