It’s hard to focus on the long term!

The article highlights the struggle many face between immediate responsibilities and long-term aspirations. While we all harbor dreams, the daily grind—paying bills, raising children, and working—often overshadows our ability to pursue those distant goals. The author acknowledges life’s busyness and emphasizes that progress can be made incrementally.

The Importance of Balancing Short-Term Demands with Long-Term Goals.

Did you ever try to think about the larger goal when you have so much to worry about day to day.

We all have dreams that we want to achieve. Yet, with so much to do today, like pay the bills, raise the kids, and work; it’s hard to make those long term dreams happen.

We have to realize that people are busy. They have to get things done that really matter today. Unfortunately, that’s life.

What we can do is make progress by doing little things when we can to make it happen.

  • For our retirement we can throw money into an IRA or 401K fund.
  • We can try to go for a walk daily.
  • WEe can try to eat right as often as we can.
  • We can forgive and move on instead of holding grudges.
  • We can see a doctor once a year to make sure we’re healthy.

And yet, so many of us won’t even do one of those because we don’t have the time, or quite frankly, don’t care. That’s OK, I didn’t care when I was younger.

I care now! I am older and the realities of health and wealth are all catching up with me. All those movies about a carefree lifestyle and living for “each day” seems like bullshit.

So, I am asking you to take care and plan ahead. Think about not only today, but also 20 years from now. Your future self will thank you!

Remember:

  1. Financial Planning: Allocate funds to retirement accounts like IRAs or 401Ks.
  2. Physical Health: Prioritize daily walks and maintain a healthy diet.
  3. Emotional Well-Being: Practice forgiveness and let go of grudges.

Healthcare: Regularly visit a doctor to ensure overall well-being.
