Sometimes it’s hard, but we have to continue.

I know sometimes things can get hard. Relationships can be rough and working towards a goal can be daunting. Diets and workouts get monotonous.

I am not talking about the tough times here, but the long boring stretches where we get complacent, bored, or just plain forget to care.

Think about it. Relationships get hard because we go through rough patches. But…. We also go through long boring times when we tend to ignore or forget to show some compassion or love their way. This is something we have to overcome. We have to be reminded and then make an effort to show them how we really feel. It takes some reminding to understand how important they are to us.

Not just your lover, but relatives and friends. How often did you let life get in the way? I did way too often, one of my regrets. I didn’t make an effort.

My wife would say, “well, neither did they!” I tell her that’s not the point. The point is if it’s important to me I should be the one to reach out. If they reach out, I should make every effort to respond, or at least send a note explaining why I can’t. Timing sucks sometimes.

If you try to stay healthy, you run into a similar situation.

  • Workouts get stale and boring.
  • Diets get boring and monotonous.
  • Work gets boring.

As you can see, it’s the boredom that ruins most of us. That’s a problem we have to address.

With my wife, she will often remind me if I ignore her or stop using pet names she likes. I like to call her “babe” or “love” to remind both of us where we stand. I don’t want to ignore her, but sometimes I do it without realizing it.

With friends, I often create a reminder in my Google Calendar to ping someone or ask about someone in their family. If this sounds cold to you, it’s the best way I can cope because I get caught up at work too often not to need a reminder.

With the gym, when I get bored I go on YouTube and look for new workouts. I may call a friend who works out or my sons who work out very differently than I do, but always have ideas on what the next thing is. I love that.

For the diet, I just research and try new things. I have to be careful because I want to continue eating well, which is very hard in today’s world. Especially in the US where there are so many chemicals in food that can harm you. Fast food is designed to addict you, it worked on me for years. Most if it is really bad for you, unfortunately, they are big and rich companies with powerful lobbyists. Sorry, but that’s what’s going on.

Anyway, be healthy and remember to overcome boredom. Chances are this is the toughest challenge you faced because you may not realize the problems it’s causing.

What will you do to break up the monotony of life?

In summary:

Life isn’t always about dramatic challenges; it’s also about the mundane stretches where we tend to forget or become complacent. Let’s break it down:

  1. Relationships:
    • Challenge: Rough patches can strain relationships.
    • Boredom: We also face long, dull periods where we forget to show love and compassion.
    • Solution: Remind yourself of their importance and make an effort to express your feelings.
  2. Health and Fitness:
    • Challenge: Workouts and diets can become monotonous.
    • Boredom: Repetition leads to boredom.
    • Solution: Find ways to stay engaged with new exercises, recipes, or routines.
  3. Work:
    • Challenge: Work can get dull.
    • Boredom: Routine tasks can drain enthusiasm.
    • Solution: Seek variety, learn new skills, or set small goals.
  4. Remembering Loved Ones:
    • Challenge: Life gets busy, and we neglect friends and family.
    • Boredom: We forget to reach out.
    • Solution: Set reminders, show appreciation, and be proactive.

Remember, it’s the little efforts that keep life vibrant. Whether it’s a pet name, a friendly message, or a fresh workout routine, let’s combat boredom and nurture what matters most!
