Finally, I released my new book on healthy habits.
The purpose of this book is to help you create forever habits around health.
Specifically around working out and eating right. It’s not easy and doing both can be hard.
So, looking at the plan, it’s best to create some simple habits first. Maybe build on what you can do quickly to build come confidence.
Then, take on the big habit, make it work for you.
It’s all about whom you want to be and becoming that person. Ask yourself, am I a person that works out and eats right? If so, then what decision should I be making right now?
I am a healthy person, so what would a healthy person do tomorrow and the rest of the week. What about the rest of my life?
It’s ok to get in a rut or fall off the healthy wagon. It happens to almost everyone.
Then, you have to remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be. It’s not easy to admit who we are. That’s the hard part.
Taking a long look in the mirror, whom do you see? Is that whom you want to be?
Make a decision, then make a plan, then do it!
We can do something for a little while, even if we hate it. The key is to get up and do it every day, over and over again, if we have to.
The key is to find something you enjoy that fits into the purpose of that habit.
In other words, if you want to eat better food, then find better food you like that is good for you.
If you need to get in shape and exercise, then find an exercise that you enjoy.
If you want to get up earlier, give yourself a reason why to get up earlier.
If you want to go to bed earlier, give yourself a reason why to go to bed earlier.
This sounds easy, just find something you like. The key is to sustain those healthy habits. To sustain you have to really like it or want to do it. If you’ve invested the time to make it a habit or ritual, then you know that you like it or at least feel like it’s important or a calling.
Then you can maintain.
Also, sometimes you have to change. If you run, you may have a knee or hip go bad. If you lift weights, your joints may start to hurt. Then you need to change what you’re doing and find something that gives you the same result.
If you can find something you enjoy, that’s great, but your tastes will change.
If you have a larger reason for doing something, then you should be able to sustain these habits.
If you are flexible and willing to try new things, then you will not get as bored as if you kept doing the same thing over and over again.
It’s nice to keep your options open. Staying in shape is key to long-lasting life and health. Also, keeping a positive attitude and a great outlook.
One way to keep a positive outlook is to be willing to learn and try new things, but you have to be consistent in what you do every day.
You should exercise every day. But what you do to exercise is up to you.
You should eat right every day, but what you eat is up to you.
You should keep consistent every day, but the way you do that is up to you.
It’s all about discipline. The discipline that you invoke on yourself. Just because you’re disciplined doesn’t mean you have to be boring.
I get bored all the time. That doesn’t mean I will stop working out. That means I will maintain my habits and rituals of exercise, but I may run more, or do the kettlebell or try a new martial art.
Most Olympic athletes have to get through the boring and repetitive workouts. They have to do it again and again until not only is it boring, but it’s a habit.
Luckily, you could make it a habit and do the repetitive exercise until you can do it blindfolded. However, if you’re not training for a professional sport, then you can change
You see, we can mix things up to keep life interesting. Make sure you keep your options open. This is America, and we can try new things here. If you can join one gym, you can move to another. You can keep changing until you’re out of options. By then, you may miss something you did in the beginning.
I have been working out for decades but lived the life of an engineer. Technically, a consultant, solution engineer, solution architect, or anything technical.
One day, I found out I had a knack for helping and motivating others to improve themselves. They loved it but they would not live it.
Why didn’t the teachings stick? What was wrong?
It turns out some habits are not for everyone.
We had to start small and build momentum. We have to help people understand who they wanted to be and start living that life.
Now, I am sharing what knowledge I have in hopes that you may improve yourself and live not only a longer life but a better life.
